How FarmMate collects, uses and protects the personal data you share with us.

Last updated: October 2026

Who We Are

FarmMate LTD (“FarmMate”, “we”, “us”) runs this website. We are responsible for the personal data you share with us through it.

We handle personal data in line with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

What We Collect

We collect only what you choose to give us, and basic information about how the website is used:

  • Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and region.
  • Farm details (farmers and community groups): farm location, acres, water source and planting plans.
  • Organisation details (partners, buyers and investors): organisation name, your role and your area of interest.
  • Job applications: your CV, qualifications, experience and the role you are applying for.
  • Your messages to us, and the contact method you prefer (phone, WhatsApp or email).
  • Website use: pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location, collected through cookies (see below).

How We Use It

We use your personal data to:

  • reply to your enquiry or request;
  • assess farmers and groups for our programs, and arrange farm visits;
  • consider job and apprenticeship applications;
  • respond to partnership, buyer and investor requests;
  • send you updates you have asked for (you can stop these at any time);
  • improve the website and understand which pages are useful.

We do not sell your personal data, and we never ask for money at any stage of recruitment.

Who We Share It With

We share your data only with:

  • FarmMate staff who need it to respond to you;
  • service providers that run our systems for us: our customer records and forms (HubSpot), meeting booking (Calendly), website hosting and analytics (such as Webflow and Google Analytics) and workflow tools. They may use your data only to provide their service to FarmMate;
  • program partners, only where you take part in a program delivered with them and only what they need;
  • authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside Ghana, for example in the European Union or the United States. Where they do, we use providers that protect personal data to a standard consistent with Act 843.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your data only for as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it, and as long as the law requires.

Job applications are kept for 12 months so we can consider you for other roles, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner. Records of farmers under contract are kept for the length of the contract and the period the law requires after it.

Your Rights

Under Act 843 you have the right to:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data where we no longer need it;
  • tell us to stop using your data for marketing;
  • complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

To use any of these rights, contact us: FarmMate LTD, Plot 1, Tetteh Ashong Street, Achimota, Accra, Ghana. Phone +233 53 235 7177, or use the contact form and write “Privacy request” in your message. We will reply within a reasonable time.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website will still work, but some features may not.

Keeping Your Data Safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and we limit access to staff who need it. No website is completely secure, so please do not send us sensitive information we have not asked for.
