About the Program

FarmMate’s Out-Grower Scheme is a structured contract farming model that connects farmers to guaranteed markets through coordinated production, technical supervision and assured offtake. With over 3,000 contracted farmers across 10 regions, the scheme integrates standardized production protocols, quality assurance and staggered planting cycles to ensure consistent, year-round supply of quality agricultural produce.

Every grower signs a contract before planting, with an agreed planting date and a pre-agreed price. Our field officers support the farm through the season, and our grower services team collects the harvest in crates and brings it to the Legon Post-Harvest Hub, where the best grade is sold as CountryFresh fresh tomatoes and the rest becomes CountryFresh tomato puree.

Now recruiting for the dry season. We are looking for irrigated growers to plant from November to March, so fresh tomatoes reach Ghanaian tables when the country needs them most.

What You Get

Guaranteed Market
FarmMate buys every good-quality tomato you grow under contract, at the pre-agreed price.
Technical Support
FarmMate field officers and a standard production protocol, from land preparation to harvest.
Planned Planting
Staggered planting dates agreed with you, so your harvest arrives when the market needs it.
Collection in Crates
Our grower services team collects your harvest in crates, not sacks, so less of it is lost.
Quick Payment
You are paid soon after collection, on the terms in your contract.
Input Support for Groups
Community farmer groups can apply for inputs, crop insurance and technical help through CFEP.

Three Ways to Join

Community Farmer Groups
Smallholders who farm together as a community group or FBO. Groups can get input support through the Community Farming Enhancement Program (CFEP).
Commercial Growers
Private farms and agribusinesses with their own irrigation. You fund your own inputs, or buy them from FarmMate-approved agro-input suppliers and service providers, and sell your harvest to FarmMate.
Institutional Partners
Input dealers, farmer-based organisations and district assemblies that bring growers into the scheme. Partner with us.
