About the Program

FarmMate’s Apprenticeship Program is a structured workforce development initiative designed to equip young professionals with practical skills and industry experience across agricultural production, post-harvest operations and agribusiness management. Through hands-on training and professional development, the program builds a skilled workforce for the agricultural value chain. Its 12-month farm operations track has developed over 15 Farm Operations Specialists, with further expansion through a strategic partnership with the National Service Authority.

Apprentices learn by doing: they work alongside our field officers and agronomists with real out-grower farms, and see how the harvest moves through aggregation, sorting and processing.

What You Will Learn

Agricultural Production
Land preparation, nurseries, planting, crop nutrition and protection, irrigation and harvest, on working farms.
Post-Harvest Operations
Collection, sorting, grading and storage, and how fresh tomatoes become tomato puree.
Agribusiness Management
Working with out-growers, farm records, planning and the business of a value chain.

How the Program Works

National Service Partnership
